Sometimes I wish GOAT Cafe & Soapery had been around when I was growing up here.
Back then, our options were pretty simple. We had Linda’s coffee shop in the Pleasant Hill community and, of course, McDonald’s. That was about it.
If you wanted coffee, you made it at home or grabbed something quick and called it good.
It wasn’t until after I graduated high school that things started to shift a little.
When GrinderHouse opened on Main Street, it felt like a big deal. It was our first real craft coffee spot in town. It gave Crossville a different kind of atmosphere. Somewhere you could actually sit, stay awhile, and enjoy a good cup of coffee.
Fast forward a few years and now we have something even more unique. The GOAT Cafe & Soapery opened up on Peavine, and it’s one of those places that feels like an experience as much as it is a coffee stop.

Yes, they have great coffee. Yes, they offer all-natural soaps… But what really sets them apart, and what people talk about the most, are the goats!

It’s not every day you can sip your coffee while goats casually roam nearby, but somehow it just works here. It’s laid-back, a little quirky, and completely memorable. The kind of place you take out-of-town visitors because you already know they’re going to talk about it later.
On top of the atmosphere, the menu holds its own too. Personally, my go-to is the cozy goat latte. They also have phenomenal macaroons that are worth grabbing every time.
Another thing to look out for is their “bread of the day.” When I stopped in this morning, they had sourdough everything bagels and plain sourdough bread. Their daily offerings change, so it’s worth checking their Facebook page before you go to see what they have that day.
All in all, I just wanted to share a quick post on what all the talk is about. If you haven’t been yet, what are you waiting for?
